Why are some businesses more successful than others? It’s a question we’ve all considered at one time or another – especially if we look around and feel as though other professionals have identified some secret key for achieving maximum success. The truth is that we’ve all felt this way.
In our intensely connected world, conflicting advice can be found around every corner. So, developing strategies that drive success begins with sorting through the “noise” and focusing your attention on these 7 principles.
Define who you are and what you want. Achieving maximum success starts by writing out your Values, Vision, Mission, Purpose and Goals for every aspect of your life. Start asking yourself:
- What do I believe in and stand for?
- What is most important to me in life?
- What is my vision for my future?
- What do I want to accomplish – personally and professionally?
Gaining clarity on these big questions is the only way to get from where you are to where you want to be.
Resolve to join the top 10% of your field. Clearly, being successful means being good at what you do, but achieving maximum success means working to become the best. If you are truly passionate about your field, it will be easier to stay committed to the personal and professional development ahead of you.
Understand what stands between you and your goals. Rapid success depends on your ability to identify the obstacles and limiting factors that slow the speed at which you’ll achieve your goals. Then ask yourself: what is the one thing I can start doing immediately to alleviate my main constraint?
Nurture your capacity for creating innovative solutions – finding faster, cheaper, or easier ways to produce and deliver. Unleash your creativity, and focus it on removing obstacles, solving problems, and achieving your goals.
Practice sustained concentration on a single goal or task. For many entrepreneurs, this is one of the greatest challenges, but it is a major key to success. Work from a prioritized list and commit to completing the top priority task (in its entirety) before moving on to the next.
Embrace the courage to begin and persist. It takes a tremendous amount of bravery to become an entrepreneur and even more to become a successful one. You stepped into the unknown with absolutely no guarantee of success. Now, you have to use your courage to accept that things will go wrong but that you have the capacity to readjust course and adapt.
Continuous Action –
Learn more, try more, and persist longer. Achieving maximum success means attempting new things, and if they don’t work out, abandoning them and trying something else. Success is driven by your ability to react constructively to change, explore innovative methods, recognize things that aren’t working, and try again, and again, and again.
